About Meritocracy Avenue
Is Meritocracy Avenue really free?
Yes. Meritocracy Avenue is a liberal-arts education offered free to the public – no tuition and no paywall. Our courses and learning materials are open to anyone willing to strive for excellence.
What does “meritocracy” mean, and why the name?
A meritocracy is a system in which people advance by ability, skill, and talent – not by class, wealth, privilege, race, religion, or connections. Our model is a symphony orchestra: many different instruments, each mastered, playing one score together. “Avenue” is our word for the path that takes you there. Who is Meritocracy Avenue for?
Anyone with the willingness to learn – lifelong learners, students, parents, educators, and communities looking for a substantive, values-driven liberal-arts education.
What does the program include?
Our work runs in two divisions. Division I – Education offers free liberal-arts courses and learning resources. Division II – Recovery supports people working to jumpstart recovery from addiction, PTSD, and mental illness.

How is Meritocracy Avenue funded, and how can I help?
As a nonprofit (EIN 82-2396148), we are supported by donations and sponsors. You can give a one-time or monthly gift on our Donate / Sponsor page, contribute expertise or resources, or volunteer your time. Donations are tax-deductible.
